Menopause which is defined as the time when 12 months have passed since your last period, is a biological processed that is characterized by a series of events that can start in your 30’s or 40’s and last into your 50’s and 60’s. Menopause is associated with hormonal, physical, and psychological changes in your life; however, it is not the end of your youth or sexuality.
The following is a list of symptoms that can be cause for concern. It is important if you have any of these symptoms to notify the doctor. You will know if there is a need to notify the doctor immediately or to wait and call during office hours.
Before a woman reaches menopause, her body produces the hormones estrogen and progesterone. These hormones regulate a woman’s monthly cycle and secondary sex characteristics (such as breast development and function) and prepare the body for fertilization.
